Have a happy and SAFE summer!
News

Now that school is out for the summer here in Oregon, don't forget to pick up a book now and then and read! Your teachers will take a little time to themselves as well, but one thing I have learned over the years is teachers NEVER really take "the summer off" as some people think they do!

Teachers are a unique bunch of people. They are "teachers" 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. My wife has taught for well over 30 years, and even on days when we're out just taking it easy, browsing in used-stuff-store. she's likely to say, "Oh! I could use that for school!"

Don't forget: Fourth of July celebrations are just around the corner. We will all take time to celebrate our country's independence, and remember the sacrifices of all who worked so hard to give us what we have.

But... a warning to the kids.... With this holiday comes a lot of fireworks. Oregon law makes most fireworks very safe, but many come from OUTSIDE of Oregon. Resist the urge to play with firecrackers and other dangerous ones. Every year, the news carries many reports of kids who were seriously hurt or even killed by playing with the heavy-duty firecrackers (M80s are about equal to 1/2 stick of dynamite) and other dangerous things. Remember, if you blow a few fingers or a hand off with these, it will NOT grow back... and blindness is usually forever.

Do you think I am trying to scare you? You're right. Just enough to get you to be very careful what you do and who you are around. Many of those injured each year were "innocent bystanders" while someone else did something stupid.. Be safe this summer, have a GREAT time, and we'll see you in September!

Mr. Wetherell's Words - March 8th, 2010
NewsFrom the Desk of Mr. Wetherell Greetings from God’s and your Kingsview Christian School where every student is somebody, the staff is something special and Jesus Christ is Lord. This is the last week of the trimester. Be sure to remind your students to be sure they have cleared all their term work with their teachers. It does not seem possible that two/thirds of the school year have passed. We need to make the most of the one/third we have remaining. We are about to begin perhaps our busiest time of the year. Be prepared!

The Cupcakes for Haiti sale brought in $79 which was given to the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries. Third and fourth grade swimming lessons begin today and will last for two weeks. The KCS donations to the BACN food pantry have been phenomenal and again Mrs. Pinkston’s Providers won the “Giving Cup”. This week’s food item is canned fruit-canned fruit-canned fruit. The fourth grade will go to the Historical Museum on Tuesday to continue their study of local Native American history. This week’s chapel will feature Mrs. Pinkston’s celebration of “Women in History Week”.

As always, you are welcome to attend or accompany any event or outing held at KCS. We need your help with our two major fund raisers: KCS Auction and the KCS Golfathon. Please consider being a “hole captain” for the golfathon and get five friends together to have fun and raise funds for our school. Information is available in the office. Elective for spring term will be two days in “Drawing” and two days as class aides. This will begin next week. Fifth through Ninth students have just completed their elective in Culinary Arts and Fabric Arts. First through Fourth grades will continue their work with Mr. Magill in computers.

As you can see we will be busy! But when aren’t we? The Lord blesses us daily. Know that we appreciate your children, your sacrifice, your input, and your prayers.

In His and your Service, Rick Wetherell.

Fun Faculty Fact: Mrs. Branderhorst was born in Holland and speaks and translates Dutch. She has nine grandchildren and 300 mosquito fish in her pond. Elmer Kliewer is tied for her favorite son-in-law.
